Morning Facilitator: Susan Perlstein on “Vital Arts Programs.”
Susan is the Founder of the National Center for Creative Aging in Washington, DC, and currently, Director of Special Projects for the NCCA.

Afternoon Sessions:

  • “Raw Vision: The Power of Art in Health Care” by Jeff Nachtigall, one of the teaching artists-in-residence featured in the NFB film A Year at Sherbrooke. The film documents the artistic efforts of residents of a long-term care facility in Saskatoon.
  • Other afternoon sessions will focus on finding funding to develop the creative arts programs and on marketing and promoting these programs to seniors.

This Forum/Workshop is aimed at workers in the senior sector, artists, volunteers, others interested in intersections between arts and aging, funders and decision makers.

Third annual festival celebrates aging and the arts - IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Edmonton, (June 8, 2010) – Councillor Linda Sloan launched Edmonton’s third annual Creative Age Festival in City Hall today. The event included performances by Festival participants as well as speakers representing the Festival’s symposium, theatre festival, and Arts Café series.

The Festival runs until June 16th and includes a variety of events which highlight the importance of creative expression to the health and well-being of older adults. This year’s Festival will have 16 events at 12 venues throughout the city, most of which are free. Highlights include interactive workshops, theatre and choral festivals, an art exhibit, film screenings, and a symposium featuring Aboriginal issues.
